Somnus

Funnily enough, it was the wind that woke me up; its falsetto howl screaming at my window.

My body upright, my heart out my chest, I promptly shut the window; trapping the foul gasping beyond the walls of my bedroom.

Almost instinctively, I looked around the rest of the room. I lay back down and threw the sheets over my head.

And now, in the vacuous silence of the night and the stifling cover of my duvet, the tall man by the door continues to stare at me with patient eyes.

The wind still cries, I wish I had listened.
